1) Today we acknowledge James Arthur Baldwin who was an American novelist, playwright, essayist, poet and activist.  His powerful writing featured themes of racer, gender and sexuality to promote equality.  James Baldwin used his literary talent to fight racism, homophobia and misogtyny!  Born in 1924 and died in 1987, he devoted his life to giving a voice to oppressed people!

2)  IMPROV IMPROV IMPROV.  A reminder that there is IMPROV club afterschool today from 2-3:30 in the Music room.  All are welcome for fun and games.

3) Interested in journalism? Want to improve your photography skills? Learn basic photojournalism skills from a University of Kings College instructor. King’s is hosting an online interactive photojournalism workshop for high school students on Sunday, February 7, from 4-5 p.m. Develop your photojournalism skills and learn how to craft a photo essay. The workshop is open to all high school students. Go to the calendar on our school website and click on the February 7th event for details on how to register.

4) The Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service is hiring for the summer.  Application deadline is march 4, 2021.  There is a poster on our bulletin board with more information.

5) There is also a poster on our bulletin board with information for anyone interested in official language programs/bilingualism.

6) Halifax Regional Arts is offering a great performance opportunity to students in grade 8-12.  The show is Shakespeare’s Hamlet and they are partnering with Shakespeare by the Sea.  The rehearsals will be online (and the show will be online too!) on Wednesday Nights starting Feb. 3 and ending May 26th.  See bulletin board for more information.

7) Attention Grade 12 students: It's time to check the school calendar again on the school website! There are lots of virtual information sessions and open houses coming up. Dalhousie, Holland College, UNB, Kings, Canadian Coast Guard College and more. Click on the events for details about how to register.

8) Are you a female-identifying student interested in technology? Dal's Women in Tech Day will be held virtually on February 16th from 12:30 to 3pm. This virtual field trip will allow you to explore technology and careers in technology with other like-minded female students. If you are interested in registering for this event, please contact Ms. McLean in Student Services.

9) Choir at CHDHS Starts this Thursday afterschool in the music room from 2-3 p.m.  All are welcome, no audition necessary!
