Cole Harbour District High School

February 17th, 2021

1) Marsha P Johnson was a Black, transgender woman, who was central in the movement for LGBTQ+ liberation for nearly 25 years. Marsha was active in the Stonewall riots of New York City, a series of demonstrations in 1969 that changed the LGBTQ+ rights movement forever. We can remember Marsha today through The Marsha P. Johnson Institute, which protects and defends the human rights of Black transgender people.

2) Course Selection for grade 10 and 11 students will begin today. Ms. McLean will be visiting classrooms this week to remind you of the process, and you will have until February 26th to go onto power school and select your courses for next year. Ms. McLean will then meet with each of you individually in the first two weeks of March to review your courses and make any necessary changes.

3) IMPROV IMPROV IMPROV.  A reminder that there is IMPROV club afterschool today from 2-3:30 in the Music room.  All are welcome for fun and games.

4) Hey CAVS!  Girls ruby is starting back up for another season.  First practice is tomorrow from 5:30 – 7:30.  No experience needed.  See you there CAVS!

5) Hey CAVS, we are offering a great opportunity to design our CAVS button.  Put your art experience into action and create an African Heritage Month button, 2 inches in size.  The student body will vote on all designs submitted and a prize will be awarded for each of the top three entries.  Please submit your designs to the main office by Friday, Feb 19th.  Good luck CAVS, lets get it done!!
