IMPORTANT UPDATES for Tuesday September 8th, 2020

Good evening Cole Harbour High Families,
Please see below for the next information piece regarding school opening September 8th.

·         Schedules did not send out to families as expected yesterday, they will arrive in email boxes today. If there is a failure, please remember, PowerSchool is open and you can refer to the schedule there as well.
Please note: the schedule you are receiving is for next week only, therefore day one is Tuesday for this week only
·         Any student who wishes to request a course change is asked to complete the Course Change Request Google Form located on the School's Main Webpage. This form will be available from September 8 to the end of day September 11 only.  Students are expected to follow their original schedules until notified by email whether their schedules have changed. Please note, scheduling is quite tight, many classes are full, and many courses only run once all year. There is no guarantee a change can be made to a schedule. Priority will be given to grade 12 students.

·         On opening day, as buses arrive and students enter the building via the gym doors, staff will be present in the foyer and in the hallways to help guide new students to their first class.  Students must keep moving to their class and not remain in hallways or common areas.
·         During the lunch hour, students have the following options:
o   There will be 8 class rooms on the first floor (101-108) open to students to a maximum of 20 per room
o   There will be 8 class rooms on the third floor (301-308) open to students to a maximum of 20 per room
The cafetorium is available for a maximum of 44 students socially distanced at lunch.
All students on study block who choose to remain at school will work in the cafetorium
for the duration of their study block. A reminder that study blocks for regular program  students will be double blocks / half the school day before or after lunch. 
·        In order to facilitate sanitizing, students will have a maximum of 20 mins to eat before the desk/table surface is sanitized for the second period classes entering.
·         Please review the following with your child to ensure they understand the need to follow protocols and practices and keep themselves, their family and everyone safe.
o   If students are late, they must enter via the main entrance and see administration.
o   When entering any classroom, students must use hand sanitizer, every time.
o   Students entering washrooms must check occupancy. The number of stalls/urinals is the number allowed in the washroom at a time.  Others must line up and socially distance to wait their turn. Proper Hand washing is essential practice.
o   Students leaving classrooms during class time must sign out and back in to ensure the most accurate contact tracing possible.
