Cole Harbour District High School

Message to Parents Sept 7

Good evening once again Cole Harbour High Families,
A final message to provide more and underline information before we welcome students in the morning for their first day of school.  A reminder that all information sent home to date can be found on our website.
• Please take note of the information at the following link concerning safe storage of masks when not in use:  https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/masks/   Clean, unsealed plastic bags or paper bags have been suggested as good options for this while students are at school and temporarily remove their mask for eating.
• Reminder that students must sanitize their hands when they enter a room. Sanitizer will be available in classrooms, close to washrooms and main entrances.
• Hallways are not open to students for socializing or gathering of any sort.  Stay to the right, single file traffic in either direction is acceptable only to travel to a planned and permitted destination.  This is very important as we try to ensure contact tracing is as accurate and swift as possible.
• Students can choose one of the designated lunch rooms the will eat in to a maximum of 20 students, facing the same direction and distanced as much as possible, up to 2 meters.   The cafetorium is the exception, as this space will hold 44 students at appropriate distance.   Students must understand, they are not to leave any room freely at any time and must sign out.  There is no hall wandering.  Students are able to leave the building and return at the end of lunch.

A message from our registrar:
Dear students and guardians, welcome back. There are three ways to know what room / course / teacher you have at any time that will be the most accurate as of the morning of September 8th.
1. open the powerschool app on your phone / laptop / iPad / chromebook and follow your schedule
2. open the powerschool website on any device and follow your schedule
3. review a paper schedule, but understand that it does not show the changes to schedules and will vary from week to week.

On Friday evening, many of you received an email about your "report card". Please note that we used a new technology and we are the first school in Nova Scotia to try this. That email contained a link to your schedule for the first week.  If you did not receive the email with your schedule, you can simply follow the schedule on your app or the website as listed in steps 1-2 above.

For those who are trying to decipher the emailed schedule, for this week only, Tuesday is the first school day of the week so:
Day 1 = Tuesday
Day 2 = Wednesday
Day 3 = Thursday
Day 4 = Friday

Upon arrival Tuesday morning, students will report to the first classroom listed on the emailed schedule for Tuesday (day 1).

Thank you
