• Congratulations to cavalier Mekayla bull on receiving a community citizenship award for volunteerism presented to her by the city of Halifax. Way to go!

• The CAVS rugby team opened the season with two games on Thursday. A solid win over Dartmouth High followed by a loss to Sir John A. Scoring for Cole Harbour were Billy Somers with 3 tries, Sasha Sobel with 2, and Matt Lillington with 1. The boys play their home opener today on the cole Harbour turf at 3pm against Lockview and at 5pm against Eastern Shore.

• The girls’ field hockey team won their game against Armbrae yesterday with a score of 9-7.  Goal scorers for Cole Harbour were Julia Dorey and Robyn Pike with three each, Emily Avery, Christina Cowie and Rachel Carroll with one each.  The MVP of the game was our goalie, Jaime Spicer with a stellar game in nets.

• Cole Harbour High School will be sending a hockey jersey to Humboldt, Saskatchewan.  Students may drop by the office to write a note of sympathy which will be included with the jersey. 


• Ms. Stairs in student services is collecting grad fees. This year's early bird fee is $50 dollars cash only.   If you have any questions, please see Mr. Dean Stevenson in RM 314.  The Graduation Ceremony will be held at school on June 27, 2 p.m.

• Youth Expo April 21, 2018, 9am - 4pm.  There is a parade featuring the NS Cadet Pipes and Drums at 8:45 and free youth concert 4 pm – 5:30 pm, featuring Before Monday.  Events take place at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex, Brookfield, NS.  The Expo is free for kids 18 and under.   www.theyouthexpo.com

• May 11th to 13th St F. X. will be hosting a Leadership Development Conference. High school students and 4-H seniors from all over Atlantic Canada are invited to learn about leadership development in the areas of community engagement and communication. Stop by Student Services or the Main office to see the poster and find out how to register. If you sign up by the early bird deadline of April 16th the conference fee is only $125 and that includes accommodation and meals.

Attention Grade 12 Students – Post Secondary Opportunities:

• The Scholarships and Bursaries Information Page on our old school website is temporarily unavailable. In order to stay on top of upcoming application deadlines for scholarships, there is a printed copy of this web page posted outside Student Services. There are also copies available in the main office and library for you to review. Sorry for this inconvenience and we’ll notify you as soon as the webpage is once again available online.

• Nova Scotia Power is pleased to announce The Chris Huskilson Emera Scholarship: applicants must have academic excellence and be attending an Atlantic Canadian university in the areas of science, technology, engineering, entrepreneurship or math. The recipient will receive $10,000 per year for four years as well as a paid, 12-week internship and a senior mentor from one of Emera’s companies. Deadline for applications is April 26th.  Further details and Application Form are available online at emera.com/scholarships
