• Today is Teacher Appreciation Day – a big thank you to all of our teachers.  To quote Henry Brook Adams:  “A teacher affects eternity; one can never tell where one’s influence stops.”

• The girls Field hockey team finished their season yesterday in a Semi Final game against Citadel. The final score of the game was 7-2. Goal scorer for Cole Harbour High was Julia Dorey with two goals. Congratulations to all the players on the team for a very successful season.

• There is a mandatory We Act meeting today at lunch in room 202. 

• Quick, mandatory, Frisbee Team meeting at lunch in room 302

• For those interested in playing on the Girls Softball team, there will be a tryout today after school at 2pm at the turf field.

• The 2018 Prom guest’s application sheets are available in the front office. Applications must be submitted before May 22nd. Prom tickets go on sale May 29th.

• Students interested in becoming this year’s Cole Harbour District High School valedictorian must submit their speech to Ms. Finnemore by Wednesday, May 23. If you are interested in competing or would like to be a judge for the final competition, please see Ms. Finnemore.

• Wednesday the following teams play in the dodge ball tournament:
Team Ten vs Dirty Dodgers
Team Field Hockey vs The Tenners
Teams should be prepared to play twice that day.
Final games are on Friday and admission for spectators will go down to $1 and bleachers will be open to sit on.

• We Act is holding a Goat Dance on May 10, 6:30 to 9:30.  All proceeds go to Ecuador.  Pay $5 and bring a friend because every $50 raised will go to purchase a goat to feed a family.  Students bringing guests will need to sign them up by this Friday.  Sign-up sheet is in room 202.  Tickets for the goat dance are on sale outside of the office for the goat dance all this week.

• We Act are selling Rafiki bracelets until Monday next week. Bracelets are $10, $5 of which goes to supporting the women in Haiti who make the bracelets then the rest of the funds go to the pillar you have chosen.

• Cavalier of the Year committee, and everyone who signed up to perform in this event, meeting today at lunch in room 104. New members are welcome to join.   Cavalier of the Year (the former Mr. Cole Harbour) will be held at the school Thursday May 31st at 7pm. Tickets will be sold at the door for only $5 per person. This event will be hilarious and entertaining and will help to lower the cost of prom tickets.

• Ms. Stairs in student services is collecting grad fees. This year's early bird fee is $50 dollars cash only.   If you have any questions, please see Mr. Dean Stevenson in RM 314.  The Graduation Ceremony will be held at school on June 27, 2 p.m.

• May 11th to 13th St F. X. will be hosting a Leadership Development Conference. High school students and 4-H seniors from all over Atlantic Canada are invited to learn about leadership development in the areas of community engagement and communication. Stop by Student Services or the Main office to see the poster and find out how to register.

• Swiss Chalet Job Fair:  Cole Harbour Place, Harbour Room – May 9 (4-8 pm), May 12 (2-4 pm), May 17 (4-8 pm).  Westphal Room – May 19 (2-4 pm).

Attention Grade 12 Students – Post Secondary Opportunities:

• The scholarship page on the school website is up and running again. Please check this page regularly for the next number of weeks – there are lots of deadlines coming up for some important awards, such as the Cole Harbour Foundation Scholarships, plus many more.

• Cole Harbour Soccer Club Scholarship Applications are now available. If you are a student with strong academics and strong soccer skills, as well as a history of giving back through coaching or training of other players, stop into Student Services for an application. Deadline for these applications is May 20th.

• Open Houses are not considered school-based activities; missed classes due to attending these events will be counted towards your attendance.
