At Cole Harbour High school, we are having a reading followed by a moment of silence after morning announcements and a smudging ceremony at lunch facilitated by our Indigenous Student Support Worker, Kaylyn Morris, that all students and staff are welcome to attend.

Red Dresses will also be displayed in the building and staff and students are encouraged to wear red as well.

This Week In Review

This week has been full of exciting activities at Cole Harbour District High School, showcasing the diverse talents and interests of our students. One of the major highlights was our rugby team's thrilling match against JL Ilsley High School on Thursday at the Cole Harbour turf field. Both teams put on an outstanding display of skill and determination, ending the game in a rare and exciting tie, with a final score of 39-39.

Meanwhile, our Track & Field team has officially kicked off their training season. Athletes from various grades are working hard after school to prepare for upcoming district and regional meets, focusing on both individual events and team relays. Coaches have reported a strong turnout and great enthusiasm from students looking to improve their personal bests and represent our school with pride.

This weekend (May 2-4) is the annual High School Ringette Showdown! We have 4 students (Abby Trudel, Sophia Barnaby, Ava James and Callie Decoste) who are all representing CHDHS on a combined team with Island View High School!

Games will all be held at the Greenfoot Energy Centre in Bedford. Schedule is as follows:

Friday May 2    7:00pm vs Millwood

Saturday May 3    10:00am vs Halifax West

                                    1:15pm vs Bay View

If you enjoy Ringette this weekend would be a great opportunity to come out and support our CHDHS/IVHS team.

In academics, our grade 11 Chemistry students had the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to Dalhousie University. During the tour, students explored state-of-the-art labs and had a chance to speak with university professors and researchers, gaining insight into what post-secondary science education has to offer.

Today, our school was proud to host a regional event featuring a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Halifax Regional Arts. Several schools from across the area attended the morning performance, which brought Shakespeare’s classic play to life with creativity and energy. The performance was well received and provided an enriching cultural experience for all attendees.

For those who missed the daytime show, there will be a public performance tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Admission is free, and everyone in the community is encouraged to attend and enjoy this engaging and accessible production of one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies.

Have a wonderful evening and weekend.
