Good Evening Cole Harbour District High School Families,
Hard to believe we have 6 weeks left before the start of end of year exams. Time is quickly flying by as the 2024 - 2025 school year enters its final stage. We continue to have lots of events and activities happening at our school.
Last night our school’s Cavs Student Council held a coffee house in our cafetorium. The event featured live entertainment and a variety of snacks. It was great to see students, staff, parents and guardians as well as community members come out to enjoy a wonderful night of entertainment. A big thank you to Taylor Irving for agreeing to be the MC for the evening. He did a great job keeping the crowd engaged throughout the evening. It is always great to see grads like Taylor come back to the school to support our events. Also, a huge shout out to Ms. Cusson and the Coffee House Committee for arranging the event which was enjoyed by all who attended.
Last weekend Cavaliers Abby Trudel, Sophia Barnaby, Ava James and Callie Decoste were part of a combined ringette with Island View that competed in the Annual Nova Scotia High School Ringette Showdown. The team played very well and represented the two school communities with much pride. A big thank you to Coach Natasha James for supporting our Cavs and volunteering her time to give our students an opportunity to participate in a great event.
Yesterday in rugby action our Cavs defeated Citadel 40 - 34. It was an exciting game that saw Citadel start quickly and built a 10 - 0 lead. Our Cavs settled down after the first 10 minutes and stormed back to take a 33 - 10 lead early in the second half. Citadel fought back to cut into our Cavs’ lead before we scored a late try and conversion. Both teams played extremely well and it was good to see them compete hard and show great sportsmanship throughout the game. Big shout out to Coaches Steven Lenihan and Cohen Reddick supporting our students and giving them an opportunity to participate in an exciting sport.
IB exams continued this week for our year two IB students. Our graduating IB students will soon be finishing their high school studies.
Hockey
Next year for the first time in several years we will be having a hockey team. It is great to know that Cavalier Hockey will once again be part of our school community. If you are interested in your student getting involved please contact AD Jerome Sparks at the following email: jsparks@gnspes.ca
Graduating Cavaliers
A reminder to our graduating seniors that the prom will take place on Thursday, June 5 in our cafetorium. The prom will once again be a free event thanks to Brayden Robinson and other members of our CHDHS Cavalier Prom Committee. It is great to see our students organize and take ownership of their prom. Thanks to the Cavs Prom Committee for being awesome!
On Friday, June 13 we will be hosting our annual graduation bbq. This event is also no charge for our graduates.
Friday, June 27 we will have our Class of 2025 Graduation Ceremony in our gymnasium. Each graduate will receive 4 tickets and once all graduates have their 4 tickets they can ask for more.
Please note that if your grad has not already bought their graduation gowns they can still do so using the School Cash Online option or pay directly at the main office. The cost of the gown, cap & tassel is $10. Also, grads get to keep them.
Once again, I want to thank you for letting us be part of your student’s educational journey. Have a wonderful and safe weekend.
Mr. Reddick
