IBCP Information
Dear Students, Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and families,
The Halifax Regional Center for Education is excited to announce new academic programming available to your students for their grade 10 or 11th year. Cole Harbour District High School is the first school in our region to offer the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP).
Starting in the fall of 2026-27, students who enroll in the CHDHS Career-related program can start in one of two pathways.
1. Business and Project Management
This pathway focuses on entrepreneurship, strategic planning, financial literacy, and project management. Students will gain practical business skills through courses like IB Business Management, preparing them for careers in the business world or further studies in business and management.
2. Marine Systems and Sustainability
Focusing on marine biology, offshore energy, underwater robotics, logistics, supply chain management, sustainability practices, eco-tourism and maritime technology, this pathway provides students with real-world experience in a rapidly growing industry. Through IB Marine Sciences, students will explore the complexities of ocean ecosystems and sustainability, opening doors to careers in the entire marine sector.
Both pathways offer students the opportunity to earn an IB Career-related Certificate, a prestigious qualification recognised internationally, while preparing them for real-world careers or further post-secondary education. Cole Harbour will be only the 7th public school in Canada to offer this programming and the sole one in the HRCE.

This session will provide valuable insights into the career-oriented pathways available through IBCP, featuring talks from distinguished experts:
· Dr. Vurain Tabvuma, Dean of Programs at the Sobeys School of Business, St. Mary's University, who will discuss opportunities in the Business & Project Management pathway.
· Dr. Sherry Scully, a leading consultant in the Marine Sector, will share her extensive knowledge on the Marine Systems & Sustainability pathway.
We are pleased to inform you that this event is open to all students. You do not need to be a student who’s home school would be Cole Harbour District High School to attend. Cole Harbour is an open boundary magnet institution, and we welcome all students from outside of our local catchment who are interested in pursuing the IBCP.
We encourage you to share this exciting opportunity with your friends, family, and community members to ensure that the students who would benefit most from this academic programming receive it. Thank you for your support in spreading the word about this unique and valuable educational opportunity. We look forward to seeing you at the information session.
