Friday Message, September 4th 2027
Hello Cole Harbour Families,
It’s been a great two days meeting our new students and greeting our returning students. We are very impressed with how our grade level assemblies went today for all students. The student expectation matrix was reviewed with all students at the assemblies. The emphasis is on student safety and success.

Next week it is important to note for the students that we are starting on a Tuesday which means they will follow their Tuesday schedule. Many of us will bring our Monday brains that morning. It is a Tuesday start next week!
Students who need to access their gnspes google accounts can talk to their classroom teachers. Students and parents who need access to Powerschool should contact the main office by email or phone.
School lunches are targeted to start next Tuesday September 8th. Students and families should have logged into www.NSLunch.ca to create an account and place an order before Sept 2nd. Please be patient with us while we start this new program that means a great deal to student food security and learning.

Hello Cole Harbour families,
We are very excited for the 2026-27 school year. Students start on Thursday, September 3rd for a full day of the regular school schedule. Some important information is enclosed below including changes to our lunch program and students entrance to the building in the morning. We ask that all new and returning CHDHS students and families review this email please. Welcome back!
Changes to the Student drop off and entering the building.
This year we ask that ALL STUDENTS enter the building in the morning through the entrance at the back of the building. This includes students who walk to school and those who are dropped off in our main parking lot. There is an enclosed map that shows that the student drop off is at the back of the main parking lot for those arriving by car to make it easier for them to enter the back entrance and to not block traffic or buses in the mornings when we are all arriving at the same time. This is a change from last year to promote student safety. After classes begin, late students will enter through the main entrance and will be buzzed in by our admin support staff.

This powerpoint reviews start times, scheduling, signing up for lunches and other general items which will familiarize your student with our school.
Lunch program
This year we are rolling out a free lunch program for all students. This is a new initiative so please be patient as we accept the challenge of providing food for 400 students daily that wish it. Parents and students should go www.NSLunch.ca to create an account and place their orders. The deadline for the order is Sept 2nd and we are targeting Sept 8th for our first day of the rollout. This program has been very successful in our elementary and junior high schools, and we are grateful for the food support for our students. Food support has a great impact on student learning. Our regular grab and go breakfast program and snacks will still be provided for students this year.
Cell Phones
Students can expect to follow the provincial cell phone policy this year of no phones during instructional time. This means that if a student's cell phone is seen by the teacher during class time they will be asked once to put it away. If the phone is seen again at another time (that day or another day), they will be sent to the office where they will check their phone for the day and meet with the administration. If the phone becomes an issue for a third time or more for that student in any of their classes, they can expect progressive discipline which may result in a suspension from school and loss of extracurricular activity such as sports and club participation. This policy supports student learning and safety in schools and we thank all students and parents for their support.

Powerschool and Schedule
Student schedules will be released on Powerschool and will be viewable on September 2nd. Students will follow the Thursday schedule on Thursday, September 3rd. Friday September 4th is a rotating schedule day where students will follow their Monday schedule.
